Abstract:
To provide transformants of S. pombe which can produce 3-HP with high productivity without requiring alkaline neutralization, and methods for producing 3-HP by culturing the transformants.SOLUTION: The invention provides a transformant of Schizosaccharomyces pombe, to which a gene encoding malonyl-CoA reductase, a gene encoding acetyl-CoA carboxylase, a gene encoding pyruvate oxidase, and a gene encoding acetyl-CoA synthetase are introduced, or a gene encoding malonyl-CoA reductase, a gene encoding acetyl-CoA carboxylase and genes capable of forming a pyruvate dehydrogenase complex are introduced, where the pyruvate oxidase is an enzyme that catalyzes a reaction to form acetic acid from pyruvic acid and water.SELECTED DRAWING: None
