Abstract:
To provide a slide type constant velocity universal joint exclusive for a compact, light-weight propeller shaft capable of contributing to further fuel consumption of an automobile and requirement for high-speed rotation of the propeller shaft.SOLUTION: A slide-type constant velocity universal joint 1 for a propeller shaft is composed of a double offset slide-type constant velocity universal joint which includes an outer joint member 2, an inner joint member 3, eight torque transmission balls 4 assembled between a linear track groove 7 of the outer joint member 2 and a linear track groove 9 of the inner joint member 3, and a retainer 5 for housing the torque transmission balls 4 in pockets 5a, and in which a center of curvature O1 of a spherical outer peripheral face 12 and a center of curvature O2 of a spherical inner peripheral face 13 of the retainer 5 respectively have equal offset amounts f at opposite sides in an axial direction to a center O3 of each pocket 5a. A ratio Ti/Db of a thickness Ti of the inner joint member 3 and a ball diameter Db of the torque transmission ball 4 is 0.30 or more and 0.45 or less. A ratio PCD/Db of a pitch circle diameter PCDof the torque transmission ball 4 and the diameter Db of the torque transmission ball 4 is 3.3 or more and 3.6 or less.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
