Abstract:
To provide a rubber composition for a tread, capable of improving fuel economy, fracture strength and wear resistance in a well-balanced manner, and to provide a pneumatic tire using the same.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to the rubber composition for a tread, which contains a rubber component, silica having a nitrogen adsorption specific surface area of 220 m/g or more, and a mercapto-based silane coupling agent and which satisfies the following formula (A): G*(4%)-G*(64%)≤150 [kPa] (where G*(4%) is the shear modulus upon 4% strain application at 100°C; and G*(64%) is the shear modulus upon 64% strain application at 100°C).SELECTED DRAWING: None
