Abstract:
To provide a fail-safe measuring system for a fluid driver or a pump engine that incorporates improved dose accuracy, and protects a patient from excessive administration of medicine due to carelessness.SOLUTION: An infusion pump system 600 includes a first tank that stores liquid medicine, a first fluid driver 619 that applies a pressure to the first tank 610, a second tank 640 that stores liquid medicine, and a second fluid driver 641 that applies a pressure to the second tank. One or more valves 650, 660, and 670 are used for allowing flow of the liquid medicine from the first tank to the second tank, and for allowing flow of the liquid medicine from the second tank to an infusion site. Each valve is selectively opened or closed for filling the second tank with the liquid medicine from the first tank, and for dosing the liquid medicine from the second tank to the infusion site.
