Abstract:
To provide a charged particle beam therapy apparatus that can be miniaturized.SOLUTION: When a deflection angle of a first deflection electromagnet 21 is a first deflection angle θ1, and the deflection angle of a second deflection electromagnet 22A is a second deflection angle θ2, the second deflection angle θ2 of the second deflection electromagnet 22A becomes an angle going to the side opposite to the first deflection angle θ1 with the size of twice as large as the first deflection angle θ1. As a result, the second deflection electromagnet 22A can irradiate a patient W with the charged particle beam B at an irradiation angle θ3 of the same size as the first deflection angle θ1. As having such a simple relationship, the patient W can be irradiated with the charged particle beam B at a desired irradiation angle θ3, only by adjusting the magnetic field strength of the first deflection electromagnet 21 and the second deflection electromagnet 22A. A charged particle beam therapy apparatus 1 can be reduced in the size of the height direction as compared to a device of a rotating gantry system, and can be reduced in the footprint as compared to a case of using many deflection electromagnets.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
