Abstract:
To provide an air bleed system not reducing the efficiency of an engine.SOLUTION: A pressurized air system 200 includes a compressor 204 having an inlet 240 and an outlet 242. The inlet receives air from a first air source 243, and the outlet supplies pressurized air to an environmental control system (ECS) 202. The pressurized air system includes: a turbine inlet 268 to receive air from a second air source 267; a first overrunning clutch 261 coupled between an output shaft 260 of an accessory gearbox 252 and the compressor; the accessory gearbox 252 coupled to a drive shaft 206 extending from an engine 108; and a second overrunning clutch 265 coupled between the compressor and a turbine 208. The first and second overrunning clutches enable the accessory gearbox to drive the compressor during a first mode of operation, and enable the turbine to drive the compressor during a second mode of operation.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
