Abstract:
To make it possible to cause an own vehicle to change lanes at an optimum position before an occurrence of congestion, while a lane regulation section has been set ahead of a traveling lane of the own vehicle, and even if the congestion occurs in an overtaking lane due to this lane regulation.SOLUTION: In an automatic driving support device, when a lane regulation section has been set on a target traveling path set for automatically driving an own vehicle M (S2), a check is made whether or not a passing lane adjacent to the lane regulation section is congested (S3); when there is a congestion, a lane regulation reaching distance L from the own vehicle M to a starting position of the lane regulation section calculated based on road traffic information acquired by traffic information acquisition means is compared with an estimated congestion line reaching distance (L2+L') to an end of a congestion line (S6); if L>(L2+L'), the own vehicle is driven in a traveling lane; and when the estimated congestion line reaching distance (L2+L') reaches a lane change starting distance (L3+L4+L5) (S8), a lane change is executed (S12).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
