Abstract:
To solve the problem that since in a conventional jam determination method, a picking roller must be driven by required time in order to make a leading edge of a sheet reach a paper feed sensor, it takes time to determine a jam, and there is a risk that a large damage already has been formed on the sheet in a step in which the jam is determined.SOLUTION: A medium transport apparatus includes: a medium mounting part for mounting a medium; a feed roller for feeding the medium from the medium mounting part; a separation roller for nipping and separating the medium from the feed roller; a plurality of sensors disposed at positions facing a surface of the medium and detecting movement of the medium; and control means for stopping feeding of the medium on the basis of detection values received from the sensors, where the plurality of sensors are disposed upstream of a nipping position by the feed roller and the separation roller with a gap in a width direction being a direction intersecting a medium feed direction and detect movement of the medium in the width direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
