Abstract:
To provide a control device for a compression ignition engine including a two-stage cavity, for maintaining the distribution rate of fuel between the upper cavity and the lower cavity even when the operating condition of the engine changes.SOLUTION: A piston 5 of the compression ignition engine has a lower cavity (a lower cavity part 51), an upper cavity (an upper cavity part 52), and a lip part 53 between the lower cavity and the upper cavity. A control part (an ECU 10) allows the execution of main injection and at least one pilot injection when an engine 1 operates in a first condition or in a second condition where the load is higher than in the first condition. Fuel spray is distributed into each of the lower cavity and the upper cavity. The control part outputs a control signal to a fuel injection valve so that the distribution rate of the fuel spray of the pilot injection to the upper cavity is higher when the engine operates in the second condition than when it operates in the first condition.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9
