Abstract:
To provide an ink jet printer which can selectively execute suction cleaning according to occasional situation.SOLUTION: A printer 1 comprises: a first cleaning part which executes a first cleaning operation which drives a suction pump 131 in the state that a cap 111 is moved to a first idle suction position, and includes first idle suction processing for sucking an ink discharged into the cap 111 and removing at least a part of the ink adhered to a nozzle face 45; a second cleaning part which executes a second cleaning operation which drives the suction pump 131 in the state that the cap 111 is moved to a second idle suction position, and includes second idle suction processing for sucking the ink discharged into the cap 111; and an execution possibility/impossibility determination part which determines whether execution of the first cleaning operation is possible or impossible on the basis of predetermined criteria.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 15
