Abstract:
To accurately detect the existence or nonexistence of ejection failure even when a partial test pattern cannot be detected.SOLUTION: A method for detecting an ejection state of a liquid ejection head includes the steps of: forming test patterns 1003-1009; detecting test patterns 1003-1009; setting an analysis area corresponding to non-ejection detection patterns 1003-1009; and determining an ejection state of an ejection port of a liquid ejection head 30 corresponding to the non-ejection detection pattern, based on the concentration inside an analysis area, and further includes the steps of: setting an area 1805 including the undetected test pattern 1803 based on a position of the detected test patterns 1013 and 1804 existing in a position of not detected the test pattern; and requiring luminance or concentration inside the area 1805, and the method for detecting the ejection state of the liquid ejection head uses the luminance or the concentration inside the area 1805 for determining an ejection state.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 18
