Abstract:
To reduce possibilities that image quality of an image to be printed on a medium is deteriorated in a liquid discharge device capable of replenishing ink.SOLUTION: A liquid discharge device includes: a print head which has a driving element, a diaphragm, a cavity, and a nozzle; a liquid storage section which stores liquid supplied to the print head and can replenish liquid; a detection circuit which detects displacement of the diaphragm generated after a driving signal is supplied to the driving element as a residual vibration signal; a determination circuit which determines the presence or absence of a discharge abnormality of the nozzle and the cause of the discharge abnormality on the basis of the residual vibration signal; and a control circuit which executes recovery processing corresponding to the cause of the discharge abnormality. The control circuit determines whether the cause of the discharge abnormality is a liquid storage section abnormality which occurs in viscosity of liquid stored in the liquid storage section on the basis of the number of times of determination that the cause of the discharge abnormality is a viscosity abnormality which occurs in viscosity of liquid discharged from the nozzle in the determination circuit.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 25
