Abstract:
To provide a low-cost power conversion device for protecting a switching element of a wide bandgap semiconductor.SOLUTION: A power conversion device 1 comprises power conversion units 3, 4, and controlling units 6, 7 for controlling switching elements of the power conversion units 3, 4. The controlling units 6, 7 comprise a first protection unit 17 performing, by hardware, processing for generating a command to turn off the switching elements after detecting an abnormality and a second protection unit 18 performing, by software, the same processing. A first processing time required for generating a command to turn off the switching elements after detecting an abnormality at the first protection unit 17 is set to be shorter than a second processing time required for generating the same command at the second protection unit 18. An object of abnormality detection is distributed to the first protection unit 17 and the second protection unit 18 according to the allowable time for turning off the switching elements to avoid abnormality after detecting the abnormality.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
