Abstract:
To provide a magnetic recording medium having excellent travelling stability and thin whole thickness.SOLUTION: The present technique provides a tape-shaped magnetic recording medium including a magnetic layer, an underlayer, a base layer, and a back layer, wherein the number of recesses with a depth of 20% or more of the average thickness of the magnetic layer, is 10 or more and 200 or less per 1600 μm2. The base layer includes polyester as a main component, and the kurtosis of the surface of the back layer side is 2.0 or more and 4.4 or less. The average thickness tT of the magnetic recording medium is 5.6 μm or less, the magnetic recording medium includes a lubricant, and the magnetic recording medium also includes pores. The average diameter of the pore, when being measured in a state where the lubricant is removed from the magnetic recording medium and dried, is 6 nm or more and 11 nm or less.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
