Abstract:
To provide a steering device which can detect a tooth jump of a belt.SOLUTION: A steering device transmits a drive force of a first motor to a steering shaft via a first transmission mechanism, and steers steering wheels by transmitting a drive force of a second motor to the steering shaft via a second transmission mechanism. Belt transmission mechanisms having toothed belts are employed as the first transmission mechanism and the second transmission mechanism. The steering device has a first control device for controlling the first motor, and a second control device for controlling the second motor. When an absolute value of a difference between an absolute position P1 of the steering shaft which is calculated on the basis of a rotation angle of the first motor, and an absolute value P2 of the steering shaft which is calculated on the basis of a rotation angle of the second motor is equal to a threshold Pth or larger which is defined in order to determine a tooth jump of the belt (YES in step S102), these control devices determine the occurrence of the tooth jump at the belt (step S104).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
