Abstract:
To provide oral solid pharmaceutical compositions for treating, in particular ADD or ADHD, featured by immediate action onset and duration of action exceeding 12 hours as well as insusceptibility to alcohol influence in the gastric environment.SOLUTION: The invention provides a coated bead comprising: (a) a granule; (b) an inner layer coated over the granule, the inner layer comprising an active pharmaceutical ingredient containing a central nervous system stimulant; and (c) a release-delaying outer layer coated over the inner layer, the outer layer being substantially free of a salt of alginic acid, where the release of the active pharmaceutical ingredient is 20% or less when measured under in vitro conditions with stirring at 100 rpm at pH 1.2 for 2 hours in 900 mL of a medium containing up to 35% v/v ethanol. The invention further provides embodiments related to oral solid pharmaceutical compositions.SELECTED DRAWING: None
