Abstract:
To provide a method for optimizing the trade-off between the additional signalling associated with on-demand transmission and transmission of system information on a normal periodic basis.SOLUTION: The method comprises receiving minimum system information using a subset of information blocks including MIB, and receiving other system information different from the minimum system information. The other system information is broadcasted using one of a periodic transmission mode in which SIB is broadcasted periodically and an on-demand transmission mode in which on-demand SIB is transmitted, following a request for system information from user equipment. When the SIB is provided on demand, the minimum system information includes information required by the user equipment to make a system information request in an information block other than MIB, system information required to use the on-demand transmission mode is determined, and a request to acquire the required system information is transmitted by starting a RACH procedure.SELECTED DRAWING: None
