To solve a problem in which the larger a difference between the amount of tilt at the front end and the amount of tilt at the rear end, the more distorted an image looks.SOLUTION: A correction unit 208 determines a skew correction coefficient Kxxx on the basis of an angle θ1, a width W, and a document length L, determines a skew correction amount θ using a determined skew correction coefficient Kxxx, and reads out image data. As a result, a difference between the amount of inclination in the main reading direction of the side on the front end side and the amount of inclination in the main reading direction of the side on the rear end side of an image of the document indicated by the image data after being read becomes smaller than a case in which the image data is read out on the basis of the angle θ1.
