Abstract:
To provide a novel drug discovery screening method that can estimate the state of a cell without performing genetic analysis.SOLUTION: The novel drug discovery screening method includes: photographing a cell sample with a candidate drug added to a cell sample; sucking cells; performing image processing on the captured image; obtaining morphological information on the shape of the cells contained in the cell sample based on the image processing result; selecting one cell to be sucked based on the morphological information; sucking the selected one cell; analyzing the sucked one cell; extracting characteristic values of acquired molecular information and morphological information based on the analyzed results; creating a database of cell shape for each cell by storing in the database the morphological information, the molecular information and the feature values in association with one another; and estimating the state of the cells in the sample by referring to the database using the morphological information obtained based on the results of image processing on the image taken of the sample.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 12
