Abstract:
To provide an automatic log weighting system and a related method.SOLUTION: In a system, one or more imagers 116a and b, and 118a and b can capture representation of respective first ends and/or second ends of a plurality of logs 106, and use the captured representation to scale the plurality of logs. A diameter value 128 for each end of the log can be determined by using the captured representation. Relative location values for each captured end can be determined and used to form a length 114 of each log. Types or kinds of tree for each log is identified by using information captured in the image. At least one of the diameter values can be multiplied by the determined log length, and a resulting product can be compared to values in a log scaling chart to determine a board-feet value for the log. The board-feet value of the plurality of logs can be used to form a load of logs for distribution.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1A
