Abstract:
To provide a carbonaceous material that provides a battery having small irreversible capacity and excelling in discharge capacity and cycle durability and a method for producing the same.SOLUTION: A carbonaceous material has: an oxygen element content of 0.8 mass% or more and 1.5 mass% or less; and a mass ratio O/N between nitrogen element and oxygen element of 0.2 or more and 1.0 or less. Relative to the total amount of carbon monoxide detected when raising the temperature from 40°C to 2400°C in the absence of oxygen, the amount of carbon monoxide detected at 500-1000°C is 22 mol% or more. A specific surface area of the carbonaceous material is 1 m2/g or more and 80 m2/g or less, obtained by BET method.SELECTED DRAWING: None
