Abstract:
To reduce a sheet feeding failure.SOLUTION: A floating unit 9 sprays air on a sheet bundle PT placed on an elevatable sheet feeding base 2 to cause sheets P of the sheet bundle PT to float. A conveyance unit 11 conveys the uppermost sheet P of the sheets P caused to float by the floating unit 9 to a paper feeding destination. An upper limit sensor 12 emits light from the lateral side of the sheet bundle PT to the sheet bundle PT side, and receives light from the sheet bundle PT side. A control unit 13 acquires a received light amount of the upper limit sensor 12 during the floating of the sheets P caused to float by the floating unit 9 for each sheet conveyed by the conveyance unit 11 during a sheet feeding operation, and performs tracking control for raising the sheet feeding base 2 when the acquired received light amount is less than a tracking threshold. The control unit 13 samples the received light amount of the upper limit sensor 12 during the floating of the sheets P caused to float by the floating unit 9 after the start of the sheet feeding operation, performs a threshold determination process for determining the tracking threshold by using the sampled received light amount, and starts the tracking control upon determination of the tracking threshold.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
