Abstract:
To provide a nickel zinc secondary battery which can effectively reduce hydrogen gas generation accompanying its long-term storing in quantity without giving an adverse effect to a battery system.SOLUTION: A nickel zinc secondary battery comprises, in a closed container, a positive electrode, a negative electrode, a separator for separating the positive electrode and the negative electrode in such a manner that a hydroxyl ion can be conducted, and an electrolyte solution. The closed container has an upside excess space at a position (excluding a place where it electrically connects to the negative electrode) over the positive electrode, the negative electrode, the separator and the electrolyte solution. In the upside excess space, a hydrogen absorbent selected from a group consisting of Ag2O, AgNiO2 and AgxCoyNizO2 (where x+y+z=2) is arranged.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
