Abstract:
To provide a catalyst for olefin multimerization capable of achieving both selectivity and/or production efficiency of a specific olefin multimer and by-products of ethylene polymer in a form which can be easily removed, and to provide a method for producing an olefin multimer using the catalyst.SOLUTION: The catalyst for olefin multimerization comprising: a chromium compound as component (A), an amine compound as component (B), at least one of (C-1) an organometallic compound and (C-2) an organoaluminum oxy compound as component (CA), and a compound that reacts with a transition metal compound to form an ion pair as a component (C-3) is prepared so that the olefin multimerization catalyst includes the component (CA) and the component (A) as the contact materials and a molar ratio of the number of moles of metal atoms contained in the component (CA) in the contact material to the number of moles of chromium atoms contained in the component (A) in the contact material is 5 to 500. An olefin multimerization reaction is carried out in the presence of this olefin multimerization catalyst.SELECTED DRAWING: None
