Abstract:
PURPOSE:To reduce excess or deficiency of exposure caused on the screen by comparing the luminance level of a priority area and a non-priority area and varying an object level for exposure adjustment in a range where a major object in the priority area obtains proper exposure. CONSTITUTION:A selection circuit 15 outputs a high frequency or a low frequency component of a luminance signal passing through either an HPF9 or an LPF11 selected by a switching circuit 14 based on a selection signal S2 to integration circuits 16, 17...21 selectively in response to a sampling area. Then the component is integrated digitally for one field and the result is stored in a memory circuit 25 as an integration value of the existing field for each sampling area. The integration value of the low frequency component among the integration values when the LPF11 is selected is normalized per unit area, the result is used as an exposure evaluation value for exposure control, it is subjected to an arithmetic processing by a microcomputer 26, a command is given to an iris motor control circuit 25 based on the result of the processing to drive an iris motor 7 and an optical aperture mechanism 6 is operated to apply automatic exposure adjustment so that the exposure evaluation value is a prescribed value.
