Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enhance the durability of a one-way clutch by providing a ring-shaped part, which has both a diameter that is smaller than the raceway diameter of the outer periphery of an inner race and a free-end part, and providing projections engaged with an inner retainer. CONSTITUTION:A ring-shaped part 71 is provided with a free-end part 73, or the elasticity so that the part 71 can be expanded or contracted in the radial direction. A projection 72, which is engaged with an inner retainer 4, is inserted into a pocket part of the inner retainer 4. The inside diameter d of a ring-shaped part 71 before an inner race 1 is inserted is smaller than the raceway diameter of the outer periphery of the inner race 1. Once the inner race 1 is inserted in place, however, the ring-shaped part 71 fastens the inner race 1 tight by using its own elastic force and slides on the inner race 1, causing friction in between. Since the projection 72 is inserted into a pocket part of the inner retainer 4, the frictional force induced by the sliding of the projection 72 on the inner race 1 is transferred first to the inner retainer 4 and then to a sprag 3. With this constitution, the area of the contact surface between a drag strip 7 and the outer raceway surface of the inner race 1 becomes large, thereby lessening the contact-surface-pressure per unit area. Hence, seisure, friction, or breakage of the drag strip 7 can largely be reduced.
