Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve the response of vortex detection by generating vortexes in fluid and causing thermal variation, projecting light on the passage part of the vortexes, and detecting optical variation by utilizing the density variation of the vortexes. CONSTITUTION:A vortex generation boxy 2 made of a heat generating body connected to an external power source is arranged in a diameter direction in a flow pipe 1 where the fluid to be measured flows. A protection cylinder 12 provided with a laser diode 3 and a protection cylinder 13 provided with a photodiode 4 are fixed to the rear flow wall surface of the generation body 2 and laser light from the diode 13 is made incident on the diode 4 through rod lenses 5 and 6. Then the fluid to be measured is supplied in a Q direction to separate Karman vortexes as a vortex column from the generation body 2, but the generation body 2 is heated to release the vortex column as a different-density fluid column into the fluid; and the laser light is varied optically and the photo diode 4 performs detection. Consequently, the vortexes themselves are detected with good response.
