Abstract:
PURPOSE:To achieve making compact and making a short pitch of the title light emitting device array by making wire bonding and a driving 1C useless, by a method wherein the light emitting array itself is made to have a self- scanning function. CONSTITUTION:When a standard three terminal light emitting thyristor is used as an example of a light emitting device of which light emitting threshold voltage and current can be controlled from outside, light emitting thyristors T(-2)-T(+2) are in a line arranged, and three transfer clock lines phi1, phi2, phi3 are connected at intervals of three devices to an anode electrode of each stand- alone light emitting device. The emitting thyristor has a characteristic in which its turn-on voltage decreases by sensing light. When the light emitting thyristors are so constructed that its emission comes into incidence to each other device, for a device adjacent by distance to the light emitting device, or for a device sufficiently exposed to light, its turn-on voltage decreases. When high level voltages of the transfer clocks phi1, phi2, phi3 are set so as to be slightly overlapped with one another, an ON state of the light emitting device is successively trans ferred, and a self-scanning type light emitting array is realized. Therefore, a driving 1C becomes useless, and also wire bonding is not required.
