Abstract:
PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for an optical chopper and to simplify the constitution of the device by exciting the light receiving end of an optical fiber and making an infrared ray intermittently from a body to be measured. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber 2 is provided with a fixed end 3 so as to vibrate the tip of the optical fiber 2, and the optical fiber 2 is held in a cantilever state. The optical fiber 2 in the cantilever state vibrates at its natural vibration frequency (f). The infrared ray emitted by the body 1 to be measured is detected by the tip part of the optical fiber 2 and sent to a pyroelectric type element 4. The light incident on the pyroelectric element 4 is converted photoelectrically and sent to a lock-in amplifier 5 to become a signal corresponding to the quantity of the infrared ray. Consequently, the optical chopper used for a conventional flame detecting device is not necessary and the device constitution is simplified.
