Abstract:
PURPOSE:To control the electron emission by light with a simple structure easy for integration by providing a P-type semiconductor region having an electrode on a transparent electrode and radiating light from the transparent electrode. CONSTITUTION:When the high-potential voltage is applied across a transparent electrode 1 and a metal electrode 3 provided on a P-type semiconductor region 2 formed on it and light hv is radiated from the electrode 1 side, electrons are excited by the light in the region 2 and accelerated by the electric field and emitted from only the surface of the work function reduced layer 4 of the recess of the electrode 3, and the quantity of electron emission is controlled by the applied voltage and the light quantity. Accordingly, electron emission can be efficiently controlled by light with a simple structure easy for integration.
