Abstract:
PURPOSE:To rapidly and inexpensively produce compost by charging org. waste and microorganisms into a rotary drum formed with spiral projecting lines on the inside wall installed to incline and rotating the drum under heating, thereby agitating and fermenting the mixture. CONSTITUTION:The mixture composed of the org. waste and thermomicrobial spores is adjusted in moisture content and is charged into the drum 1. A burner 29 is then ignited and the drum 1 is rotated backward. The mixture stagnating near a feed port 25 is rotated together with the drum 1 and is moved deep by the inclination. Further, the mixture is sent and moved deep by the spiral projecting lines 7. The mixture arrives at the highest position by rotation and instantaneously receives a thermal shock of a high temp. The thermomicrobial spores start fermenting. The mixture arriving at an end 3 in a prescribed period of time moves toward the end 2 by switching to the forward rotation again. The mixture is uniformly heated by the repetition of this movement and rotation to advance the fermentation. The mixture is thereafter taken out of a take-out port 27 and the feed for domestic animals is first obtd. The mixture is then left standing in the atm. to continue the fermentation. The good-quality compost is thus obtd.
