A process in which the rotational behaviour of a braked wheel is measured and the brake pressure reduced as a function of its slip and/or its rotational deceleration when threshold values are exceeded, then re-increased and then held constant during a pressure maintaining phase, provides for adjustment of the length (t1H, t2H... t5H) of the pressure maintaining phase as a function of a comparison of the pressure reduction times (t1ab, t2ab...) and/or the pressure increasing times (t1auf, t2auf...) of the control cycle (1, 2... 5) just performed and of at least one preceding control cycle, in order to shorten the braking distance. ……
