Abstract:
PURPOSE:To produce molten iron at extremely high thermal efficiency by charging scrap and iron ore into a furnace and blowing gas for combustion and carbon-containing material from lower tuyere and the gas for combustion from upper tuyere. CONSTITUTION:In the cylindrical furnace 1, layer 6 of scrap 6-1, which is not yet melted, and iron ore 6-2, which is not yet melted, and on this layer, layer 7 of new charged scrap 7-1 and iron ore 7-2 are formed. Then, the charged ratio of the iron ore is made to <= about 30% of the scrap. Under this condition, the gas 8 for combustion and gas, liquid or powdered solid carbon-containing material 9 are blown into the layer 6 from the primary tuyere 3 and the carbon is partially burnt to generate CO, and melting and reduction of the scrap 6-1, which is not yet melted, and the iron ore 6-2, which is not yet melted, is progressed, to obtain molten iron having high carbon content with the residual carbon. Further, the gas 10 for combustion is blown into the layer 7 from the secondary tuyere 4 and CO from the lower part is secondarily burnt to preheat the layer 7. Successively, layer 11 of the produced molten iron and slag is discharged from an iron tapping hole 5 and again the new scrap and iron ore charged and ironmaking is continuously executed.
