Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent a defective contact from occurring in a photovoltaic device by a method wherein a second back electrode layer inside a through-hole is fused and welded to a conductive paste previously formed on a transparent electrode layer. CONSTITUTION:A transparent electrode layer 2 is formed on a transparent insulating substrate 1, and a conductive paste 11 is patterned at the position of through-holes. Then, a semiconductor junction forming layer 3 and a back electrode layer 4 are successively formed in multilayer. Through-holes 5 and an isolation groove 6 are formed in the layers 3 and 4 so as to penetrate through them. Then, an insulating layer 7 is formed on the back electrode layer 4, and an insulating layer 7 is formed in the through-holes 5 and the isolation groove 6. The center part of the insulating layer is removed to form a current collecting groove 5', and a part of the insulating layer 7 above the end of the transparent electrode layer 2 is removed to form a connection groove 8. In succession, a back electrode layer 9 is formed on the insulating layer 7 and inside the current collecting groove 5' and the connection groove 8. Then, when the conductive paste 11 is irradiated with a laser beam 12 from above the back electrode layer 9, not only the back electrode layer 9 inside the current collecting groove 5' but also a residual insulator 10 just under the electrode layer 9 are melted, and the back electrode layer 9 is welded to the conductive paste 11. By this setup, a photovoltaic device of this design can be improved in current collecting efficiency.
