Abstract:
PURPOSE:To set the scanning distance of an optical system to an indispensable distance by providing a document placing reference position on an operation side and determining the starting positions of the efficient preliminary run and exposure of the exposure optical system according to copy magnification and document side which is detected in the forward movement of a scanner. CONSTITUTION:A copying paper discharge opening 102 is provided on the upper part of a main body so as to save the space, transfer operation is carried out while copying paper is fed from the front side and conveyed inward, and the copying paper is discharged to a tray 101 at the upper part through the inner side of the main body 200. A photosensitive drum 501 rotates clockwise when viewed from the left side of the main body 200 to form a latent image, so an operator sets a document along a document reference scale on the front side and starts copying the document, so that a scan is made from the tail end side and finished at the reference position. Therefore, the document size is detected by detecting reflected light through an optical fiber 342 while the document is scanned to the tail end, and a single reciprocal scan is not required unlike before, thereby improving the efficiency correspondingly.
