Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a hydrogen occluding Ni-Zr alloy having an MgZn2 type crystalline structure in which hydrogen occluding-discharging capacity in the vicinity of room temp. is high by specifying the compsn. constituted of Zr, Ti, Mn, Fe, Pd, V, Al, W and Ni. CONSTITUTION:This hydrogen occluding Ni-Zr alloy contains, by weight, 10 to 37% Zr, 5 to 25% Ti, 4 to 20% Mn, 0.01 to 5% Fe, 0.005 to 5% Pd, 0.1 to 15% V, 0.01 to 4.5% Al and 0.01 to 13% W, furthermore contains, at need, 1 to 7% Cu and/or 0.06 to 6% Cr and the balance Ni with inevitable impurities as well as has an MgZn2 type crystalline structure. The alloy is obtd. by refining an Ni-Zr series alloy having the prescribed compsn., casting it and thereafter executing annealing at about 900 to 1000 deg.C in an Ar atmosphere. This alloy has high hydrogen occluding-discharging capacity in the vicinity of ordinary temp., has low equilibrium hydrogen dissociation pressure, is further more excellent in corrosion resistance, durability or the like in an alkali electrolyte and can also be obtd. at low cost.
