Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent interruption of the generation of an arc by a method wherein while a moving electrode is positioned between a reference point A and a point B above by specified distance, control of an electrode position is effected by a position control system, and while the position of the moving electrode is located in a position above a point B, an electrode position is controlled by a voltage control system. CONSTITUTION:An electrode position in a position where through lowering of an moving electrode 4 melting scraps 2 in a DC arc furnace 1 or heating a molten steel, energization (contact with a molten steel surface) between the moving electrode and a furnace bottom electrode 8 is detected forms a reference point A. While the electrode 4 is positioned between the reference point A and a point B positioned above the reference point A by a specified value determined responding to a charge power, en electrode position is controlled by means of a control output by position control from a position control system so that the position of the moving electrode 4 is a set position. While the position of the moving electrode 4 is situated above the point B, charge of an electrode is controlled by means of a control output from a voltage control system by control of a voltage is so that the voltage of the moving electrode 4 is adjusted to a set value.
