Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a measuring method and apparatus which enable measuring of an angle of approach and a true length of the side of an object when the object is conveyed in the direction of a belt conveyor moves with the angle of approach. CONSTITUTION: In the process in which an object 2 as rectangular parallelopiped is conveyed on a belt conveyor 1, a laser Doppler spied sensor 3 is set at a specified height and a means is provided to irradiate the surface of the belt conveyor 1 with a laser beam while two object position detection sensors 5A and 5B at the right angle to the direction of the belt conveyor 1 moves to detect a timing at which the front and rear ends of the object passes with one thereof. At the same time, a deviation in time is detected depending on an angle of approach when the front edge approaches with the object position detection sensors 5A and 5B. Both the results are inputted into a signal processor 4 as timing signal thereby enabling measuring of the angle of approach and an actual length of the side of the object by computation.
