Abstract:
PURPOSE:To lessen generation of erroneous alarms by accurately distinguishing a reflector or other object arranged to the road side firmly. CONSTITUTION:A collision alarming device measures the distance from a preceding car using optical pulses, calculates danger of collision, and emits a collision alarm to the driver seat, wherein the sensing angle region of an object sensed 2 is partitioned into a plurality of segments about at least one of the light transmitter 1 and light receiver 3, and alarm generation is prohibited in case the distance from the object is sensed one by one approx. continuously with the course of time over a plurality of such segments. This precludes such misjudgement that changes generated in the car advancing direction are all grasped as due to collisional object, which lessens frequency of giving bothers to the driver.
