Abstract:
PURPOSE:To offer a stainless steel having high corrosion resistance to a cathode environment for a molten carbonate type fuel cell. CONSTITUTION:This is a stainless steel contg., by weight, <=0.1% carbon, <=1% silicon, 0.2 to 35% manganese, 5 to 26.5% chrcmium, 0.5 to 19% nickel, <=0.5% molybdenum, <=1% copper and the balance iron with inevitable impurities. The corrosion rate of the subject steel at a potential corresponding to the cathode environment of a fuel cell is molten carbonate at 70 deg.C is regulated to one- severals to that of a 25 chromium - 20 nickel steel which is the conventional material.
