Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for controlling the lubrication characteristic, which can satisfactorily control the lubrication characteristic of lubrication oil using an electroviscous fluid. SOLUTION: In a control device for controlling the lubrication characteristic of a lubrication oil film in an area where two lubricated members 2, 3 make contact with each other, the oil film is formed of a lubrication oil containing an electroviscous fluid, a pair of electrodes 6, 7 are arranged, between which the contact area between the two lubricated members 2, 3 is located, being not made into contact with the two lubricated members 2, 3. The electric field includes a field path pattern extending from the electrode 6 to the electrode 7 through the contact area 4.
