Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve dispersibility of a dispersant to various kinds of inorganic and organic polymers by preparing the dispersant using a polymer having a functional group of specified formula bound directly to the polymer chain or through other atomic groups. CONSTITUTION:After a living anionic polymer having an alkali metal and/or an alkalline earth metal at the terminals and prepared by polymerization of polymerizable monomer in the presence of those metal-based catalysts and an organic compound are reacted, the resulting products are hydrolyzed to give a polymer having at least one functional group of =C=N(+)= which is bound to the polymer chain directly or through another atomic group. The polymer is useful as a dispersant for dispersing an inorganic substance or organic fine particles in an organic medium or a polymer. The amount of the dispersant to be used is preferably 0.5-100 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the inorganic substance and the organic fine particles.
