Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the configuration from being made large and the updation cycle from being long-term and to permit high resolution at a broad visual field angle by outputting a synthetic image signal that expresses an image obtd. by synthesizing images by 1st and 2nd image picking up means in such a manner that an area where an image by the 1st image picking up means corresponds to an image by the 2nd image picking up means is replaced by the image to the 2nd image picking up means. SOLUTION: A 2nd image picking up means 16 has a 2nd detector 24 that is the same as a 1st detector 22 and also a 2nd optical image forming system 23 has a higher image formation magnification than a 1st optical image forming system 21. Thus, although the means 16 has an image pickup area that is smaller than a 1st image picking up means 15, it can convert an infrared optical image received from an area of the same visual field angle into an image signal with high photodetector density, i.e., high pixel density. In other words, the means 16 obtains an image that is picked up with higher resolution than the means 15 by reducing the visual field angle per pixel, that is, instantaneous visual field angle.
