Abstract:
PURPOSE:To thicken an oxide film over the surface of an anode lattice base, and thereby enhance over-discharge resistant leaving characteristics by suspending the process during battery jar formation. CONSTITUTION:In the case that battery jar formation is processed in a hermetic type lead storage battery in which electrolyte is held by an electrolyte holder, the process is for example, is suspended for 24 hours while temperature is being held at 40 deg.C when the theoretical quantity of applied electricity of anode active material is 50%, battery jar formation is started again thereafter, and formation is completed when the theoretical quantity of applied electricity comes up to 350%. In this case, an oxide film over the surface of an anode lattice base is grown roughly 20 times as thick as an initial one. As a result, sulfuric acid is restrained from being dispersed over the surface of the base in an over-discharge resistant leaving test, so that electricity can thereby be turned on, which is roughly 17 times as much as that of the film which is formed with no suspension during battery jar formation.
