Abstract:
PURPOSE:To suppress generation of a harmful component being a cause of air pollution while improving fuel consumption by introducing a part of exhaust gas into an intake passage, and feeding this exhaust gas together with a mixture of theoretical air fuel ratio to a combustion chamber for combustion in a low load operation region of engine. CONSTITUTION:A number of combustion chambers 3 respectively having ignition plugs 9 are respectively provided with a plurality of intake ports 5a, 5b. A part of intake passages 11a, 11b respectively communicated with the intake ports 5a, 5b are respectively provided with intake control valves 16. A collective part 21 of exhaust passages 20 respectively communicated with the combustion chambers 3 is provided with a three way catalyst. In this constitution, the remaining intake passages 11b are respectively provided with fuel injection valves 17. Introduction ports 24 for introducing exhaust gas respectively into intake passages 11a are opened respectively in an exhaust gas recirculation passage 23 connected to the exhaust gas collective part 21. With this constitution, a part of exhaust gas together with a mixture of theoretical air fuel ratio is fed into the combustion chambers 3 to be combusted in a low load operation region.
