Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the effect on overflow of photo charges due to thinning of pixels by resetting photoelectric conversion elements included in a 2nd pixel group where a pixel signal is not read out for a period being part of a storage period of signal charges in a 1st pixel group that reads the pixel signal. SOLUTION: Photoelectric conversion elements 1 store electric charges in response to incident luminous quantities and are laid out two-dimensionally in a matrix form of 4-rows × 4-columns. The one terminal of each photoelectric conversion element 1 is connected to a gate of each of amplifier type source follower input MOS 2, and the other end is connected to a semiconductor substrate. The circuit is reset by a reset switch 14, a signal voltage is generated at the gate of the source follower input MOS 2 in response to charges stored in each photoelectric conversion element 1 of each pixel, and a source follower circuit applies current amplification to the signal at the gate. Production of a false signal is prevented and an image with high quality without smear, blooming and color mixture can be obtained.
