Abstract:
PURPOSE:To record a still picture in quality higher than that of a moving picture with specifications of an existing recording system by recording the whole or a part of image information on the total number of pixels of an image pickup element of high quality on a single or plural tracks of a magnetic tape for the still picture or the moving picture. CONSTITUTION:A still picture or moving picture mode is selected by an image mode selection switch 7a of a control panel 7. Thus a system controller 8 totally controls a buffer and the display memories 3 and 4. That is, in a still picture mode, all pixels of the information on a sheet of images stored in the memory 4 are read out and equally divided and then recorded on plural existing standardized tracks of a magnetic tape. On the other hand, in a moving picture mode, all pixels of the corresponding image information are regularly thinned and read out and then recorded on a single existing standardized track of the magnetic tape. Thus it is possible to record a still picture of high quality and a moving picture with picture quality similar to an existing one on a display monitor 14 via a display processing part 15 and without changing the specifications of an existing recording system.
