Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently mass-produce a high-quality electrode by efficiently filling microvoids in a porous base with a high-viscosity active-material slurry with a small water content in a large amount, and reducing drying time. SOLUTION: A device for filling a battery electrode with an active-material slurry includes a slurry vessel 3 which applies the active material slurry 2, a transfer roller 5 by which a porous base 1 is continuously transferred to the slurry vessel 3, and a filling roller 4 entirely or partly immersed in the active material slurry 2 filling the slurry vessel 3. The filling roller 4 extends in the direction of its axis, has a plurality of vertical grooves 8 on its surface, and is rotated on contact with the surface of the porous base 1. When the filling roller 4 is rotated, microvoids in the porous base 1 are filled with the active material slurry 2 from the vertical grooves 8, at the portion of contact between the filling roller 4 and the porous base 1. The front 8A of each vertical groove 8 in the filling roller 4 along the direction of rotation is tilled from the center to the outer periphery of the filling roller 4 in the direction of rotation.
