The invention relates to a method for providing an information service in a telecommunications network, and to a device for carrying out said method in said network. According to the invention, the customer can request information (to be further specified by him/her) about another subscriber in the network using any terminal. The enquiry is then processed using intelligent network technology and with the help of the subscriber databases already available in the network.
