To provide a livestock barn and a method for treating excrement in the barn, breeding the livestock on a fermenting bed obtained by decomposing/fermenting the excrement excreted by the livestock with microorganisms so as to solve problems of smell generated from the excrement, etc., and without requiring a septic tank.

This livestock barn is provided by forming a concave straight line trough 5 dug by a shovel car, etc., so as to divide the central part of a site, forming a fermenting floor H by laying approximately 10-12 cm thickness concrete on the trough 5 and a ground GL leveled by a loader vehicle, etc., arranging a multiple number of partitioned chambers 5 housing the P1 heads of delivery pigs and installing feed boxes 7 at the passage 6 side. The litter S is placed in somewhat higher place than that of the fermenting bed H and almost horizontally with the ground GL. and the delivery pigs are housed by facing their buttocks to the fermenting bed H so as to drop the excrement of the pigs on the litter S of the fermenting bed H and facing their heads toward the feed boxes 7. Further, opening and closing doors 8, 9 are installed at the frontal parts of the delivery chamber 1 and opened or closed on the time of entrance and exit of the delivery pigs P, litter S, etc.
